At Carlyle Healthcare Center, health is the state of physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being, not merely the absence of disease and infirmity.

One of the major services offered by the Home is that of Chaplaincy. There is a positive correlation between the resident’s attitudes and religious conviction. Directed by priests and ministers, Blessed Catherine Kasper Chapel provides a place of prayer and worship for all of our residents.

Ministers in the Carlyle area work in harmony with our Spiritual Director. Services are offered daily by our Pastoral staff in the beautifully decorated chapel adorned by stained glass windows. Additional services are offered weekly by local ministry.

The Ministry Of Blessed Mary Catherine Kasper

Carlyle Healthcare Center is dedicated in honor of Blessed Mary Catherine Kasper. She was born in Germany in 1820 and went on to found the Congregation of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in 1851. Her Poor Handmaids ran the historic St. Mary’s Hospital in Carlyle, as part of their mission. Mary Catherine was rich in compassion and love for the poor and sick, so much that she built a “little house” to serve as a center from which she nursed the sick of her village. So it is with great honor that Carlyle Healthcare Center is dedicated to her.

The outstretched arms of her statue offer care to all those in need. She served as a constant reminder of the importance in dedicating one’s life to the care of others.
